Strengthening Partnership to Advance Human Rights in Uzbekistan

November 2025, Tashkent

A productive meeting took place in Tashkent between Mr. Akmal Kholmatovich Saidov, Director of the National Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights, and Mr.Azamat Shambilov, President of the Centre for Development and Justice International (CDJI).


During the discussion, Mr. Saidov outlined the key reforms currently being implemented by the National Centre and shared the institution’s priorities and planned initiatives for 2026, including efforts to further harmonise national legislation and practice with international human rights standards.


Mr. Shambilov presented CDJI’s the organisation’s strategic vision for strengthening human rights protection across the criminal justice system. The parties exchanged views on practical areas of cooperation, including capacity building, joint research, and the development of methodologies supporting effective implementation of international obligations.

 

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding collaboration and working together to promote a rights-based approach, enhance institutional effectiveness, and support sustainable reforms aimed at strengthening the protection of human dignity in Uzbekistan.
