British Expert Delivers Lecture on Ethical Interviewing Practices at the Academy of Law Enforcement of Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan – 13, Novemebr,2025
A lecture for 25–30 faculty members and trainees of the Academy of Law Enforcement of the Republic of Uzbekistan was conducted by British expert Mark Dixon, in partnership with the Academy and the Center for Development and Justice Initiatives (CDJI). The session focused on advancing professional capacity in ethical, non-coercive interviewing practices aligned with international human rights standards.
The lecture forms part of ongoing efforts to promote fair, transparent, and rights-based approaches within the criminal justice system. By strengthening the skills of educators and future practitioners, the initiative supports broader national reforms aimed at improving proceduralsafeguards and ensuring the integrity of investigations.
“Interviewing suspects is not just a procedural step - it is a safeguard for justice. Reliable evidence comes from lawful, ethical, and non-coercive interviewing that protects rights, ensures fairness, and upholds human dignity,” said Mark Dixon during his presentation.
Representatives of the Academy highlighted the importance of integrating modern interviewing methodologies into training curricula to enhance professionalism and promote accountable law enforcement practices. CDJI reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national institutions in adopting evidence-based, human rights-focused approaches that contribute to stronger justice systems.
The event reflects the shared priorities of the Academy of Law Enforcement and CDJI to develop sustainable training frameworks, strengthen institutional knowledge, and foster a culture of ethical, rights-respecting law enforcement across Uzbekistan.
